Hurdle 4: Applying the NVC-plus Method
Successful

is
both
a
path

a
goal.
Good

it

a

to

itself.

6 Hurdles to Self-Organization
Chapter 13 – Methods of Self-Organisation
Home / hurdle 4: method /
Can't self-organization work without a method?
Very
socially
competent
people
can
organize
themselves
without
a
method
such
as
NVC-plus.
However,
it's
like
working
with
a
screwdriver
instead
of
a
cordless
screwdriver.
You
can
do
it,
but
it
rarely
pays
off
in
the
long
run.
As
soon
as
new
people
join
the
team,
methods
can
be
easily
passed
on,
while
social
skills
need
to
mature
slowly.
Methods
also
set
standards
for
teamwork.
With
NVC-plus,
we
have
created
a
method
and
even
an
entire
frameset
that
gives
self-
organization
an
easily
comprehensible
structure.
Nevertheless,
the
freedom
of
the
individual
is
less
restricted
than
its
effectiveness
is
promoted.
To
achieve
this,
it
is
important
that
people
coordinate
well
with
each
other
and
organize
the
joint
processes
intelligently.
You
can
understand
how
to
do
this
with
NVC-plus
and
try
it
out
with
your
people.
You
also
never
need
to
consider
the
full
range
of
NVC-plus.
You
can
concentrate
on
what
is
currently
useful
for
your
current
project
and
put
the
rest
to
one
side
and
try
it
out
when
the
time
comes.
Maybe
it
will
make
more
sense
then.
In
any
case,
we
have
put
a
lot
of
care
into
the
NVC-plus
method
and
would
be
delighted
if
it
helps
you
too.
If
you
have
any
problems
getting
started,

How to get started with the NVC-plus method
Before
the
team
starts
to
organize
itself,
it
should
be
reasonably
free
of
conflict.
In
other
words,
there
should
be
an
appropriate
or
sufficient
level
of
peace.
It
should
also
have
agreed
on
the
caring
team
culture.
Once
this
has
happened,
you
can

Every team, start-up, or company must overcome these six hurdles if it wants to organize itself
collegially in order to successfully manage projects from within the community.
1. Checklist, for the start
2. The four-step circle, the heart of NVC-plus
3. Utopia/vision (goal orientation)
4. Everyone should know the No-Gos and Must-Haves of all team members
